Mozilla fait renaître Eudora

Les développeurs de la fondation Mozilla viennent de faire paraître la première version bêta du logiciel de gestion de courrier électronique Euroda.
Le logiciel est désormais en code source libre et, est basé sur la même plateforme que Thunderbird, le logiciel de courrier électronique de Mozilla.
Jusqu’en octobre 2006, c’est Qualcomm qui assurait le développement commercial d’Eudora. « Notre but est de bâtir une seule communauté de développement autour de Thunderbird et Eudora, de manière à ce que les deux logiciels de courrier électronique progressent encore plus rapidement qu’avant », dit Mozilla.
La version originale d’Eudora a été lancée en 1988. Eudora est rapidement devenu l’un des logiciels de courrier électronique les plus populaires. Il aura finalement été délogé par les services d’e-mails gratuits, comme Hotmail et les logiciels inclus dans les suites logicielles, comme Outlook de Microsoft.
